The Wānaka Community Workshop works with other Community Organisations providing experiences for groups as well as making resources. Examples below:
- Mint Charitable Trust
We host a monthly maker space for the Mint Trust where members come with carers and work on small woodwork projects that the Wo(Men)Shed can take home. - Kahu Youth
The Kahu Youth trust has been bringing interested members to the workshop to complete projects for the local high school. - Aspiring Wanderers
A Wānaka group for people with mild to moderate dementia we have hosted a session for members to use hand tools and construct project from pre-cut materials.
Generally there is a the WCW charges on a per person basis to cover the costs of preparing materials, planning the session and providing a supervisor to manage the use of the Workshop. We try to have a ratio of at least one volunteer (supplied by the group attending) to three participants. The machine tools are normally out of bounds.
