Stuffed Stoat

The MenShed Team at the Wanaka Community Workshop make traps – traps targeting pests such as stoats and rats.

It came as a surprise therefore when we were asked to create housing for a stoat.

It became clear when we found out the animal was expired, dead – stuffed in fact.

The aim is to create a display showing the animal which threatens our endangered species across the Upper Clutha. The display is a tool which will be used by Wanaka Backyard Trapping to educate adults and children about the animal their traps are targeting.

Community groups such as Wanaka Backyard Trapping which are engaged in pest management are making a real difference – a positive difference for our natural environment.

The Wanaka Community Workshop are proud to be associated with the change.
